Aerospace Testing

DTB has a rich history of testing aerospace structures and components for fixed wing and rotorcraft applications. We cover proof of concept testing, conformity inspections, and complete RTCA/DO-160 certification testing to the latest revision.

Our aerospace engineering experience runs the gamut from Conformance Inspection with a full in house climate controlled Dimensional Lab and Metallurgical Laboratory, to Failure Analysis, In-flight Instrumentation and Data Acquisition to Alternate source Qualification Testing complete with Design Engineering, Fabrication and Final Approval.

RTCA/DO-160 Testing

Dayton T. Brown, Inc. can test to all the latest RTCA/DO-160 criteria. RTCA/DO-160 testing covers standard procedures and environmental test criteria for testing airborne electronic equipment, (avionics), for the entire spectrum of aircraft, from light general aviation aircraft and helicopters, Business Jet and VIP aircraft through Regional and Commercial aircraft. Coordinated with EUROCAE (European Organization for Civil Aviation Equipment), RTCA/DO-160D and its European twin, EUROCAE/ED-14D, are worded identically.

We can perform Emissions and Susceptibility testing to 40 GHz. Our equipment can generate Radiated Susceptibility fields well in excess of 200 V/m across the frequency range of 10 kHz to 40 GHz.

We are A2LA accredited for RTCA/DO-160 testing, and have large anechoic test chambers, with high current DC and AC sources available.

DTB now offers state-of-the-art lightning testing as part of our RTCA/DO-160 capabilities.

Lightning Testing System

Lightning Simulation Test System: Lightning testing

A recent addition to DTB’s aerospace testing equipment repertoire is a brand new lightning simulation test system from HV Technologies.

This system is capable of generating a wide range of single stroke, multi-stroke and multi-burst waveforms as required by the latest national and international aviation test standards.

DTB’s Indirect Lightning Effects capabilities include:

Testing in compliance with RTCA/DO-160E, Section 22

Multiple burst / multiple stroke lightning per SAE ARP5412,
   EUROCEA/ED-14E, FAA AC:20-136, SAE AE4L, MIL-STD-1757


Testing for specific Boeing and Airbus requirements


DTB also provides both single stroke and MS-MB pin injection testing and cable injection testing services on equipment with complex digital circuitry.
